Texas A & M Recruiting Class

"Grading the Aggies

I thought we could take one look back at the 2006 recruiting season. Since SportsDay doesn't hand out grades any more for recruiting classes, we'll hand out some unofficial grades:

Today's segment focuses on the Aggies:
Final grade: B
Why?: Basically for two reasons. The Aggies lost out on Skyline LB Michael Morgan to USC and they lost South Grand Prairie speedster Malcolm Williams to Oklahoma because he wanted to go to a program he can win in now.
Best prospect: The most obvious one is Klein Collins RB Michael Goodson, but my pick is Haltom LB Anthony Lewis. The Aggies need help at the position immediately, and Coach Dennis Franchione basically said at his signing day press conference that Lewis already has the "physicalness" to play college football right now.
Sleeper: Samuell's Cornell Tarrant gets my vote. Watch his video and you can see that Tarrent is willing to run between the tackles. At 5-11 and 185, it will be interesting to see how this translates at the next level.
Pressure is on: Michael Goodson. There are going to be high expecations for the top running back in the state. With the Aggies trying to get back in a bowl game, a lot of fans are going to look to Goodson as the savior."
